Jerrycan Blog

A jerrycan might seem like just a fuel container, but its impact goes far beyond that. Originally designed in 1930s Germany for military use, it revolutionized fuel transport with its durability, efficiency, and ease of use. Unlike earlier fuel cans that required extra tools and funnels, the jerrycan introduced smart design features—from its triple-handle grip to its airtight, spill-proof construction. Its design was so effective that it was widely adopted by both Axis and Allied forces during World War II, and its influence is still seen today in both military and civilian applications worldwide.

Start Building, Stop Burning: Why Mentorship  Matters

April 25, 20252 min read

One of the most memorable pieces of advice I received came from someone I truly respect—my former boss, and also our godfather in wedding. He told me, “More important than what you know is who you know.”

Now before you jump to conclusions, he wasn’t talking about the 'padrino' system that we often hear about in the Philippines. He was talking about the kind of connection that helps you grow—not shortcut your way to success. He was referring to real relationships, the ones you build intentionally and nurture over time.

And I get it now.

Back then, I thought knowing a lot, being skilled, and constantly learning were enough. But I’ve come to realize: I will never know everything, and I don’t need to. What I need is to know who I can turn to when I don’t know what to do.

That’s what mentors do.

They don’t just teach you—they walk with you. They challenge you, remind you, and sometimes even carry you through the rough patches. They’re your lifeline when things get blurry, and your push when you get stuck.

Ray Kroc once said, “None of us is better than all of us.”

And that’s the heart of it. We were never meant to journey alone. So when you’re working on something—whether it’s a new business idea, a career move, or a life decision—you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. Build relationships. Reach out. Ask questions. Learn from those who’ve been there.

I’m now running a business, and let me tell you—it’s no walk in the park. But one thing that gives me peace of mind is knowing I’m not alone. I have people I can call. Mentors who believe in me. Friends who are also figuring things out.

So whether you’re just starting or already a few steps in—start building those bridges. Don’t wait until you’re in need. Start now. Invest in relationships. Connect with people sincerely. Grow together.

Your future self will thank you for it.
